Two fire engines from Halstead were sent to a crash involving two cars on Hedingham Road, Halstead yesterday.

The fire service were called at 11.37am.

Crew members used specialist cutting equipment to release one person trapped in their car, completed by 12.20pm.

The police and air ambulance also attended.

The collision, between a white Ford Fiesta and a blue Nissan Navara, took place shortly after 11.30am on Saturday morning.

One man was airlifted to Colchester General Hospital, with chest pains, while a female casualty was taken by ambulance to the hospital, with leg injuries.

Essex Police are investigating the cause of the crash and enquiries are ongoing.

The road was reopened at 2pm.
