Plans for free WiFi in Halstead High Street remain a “vague idea” despite a year passing since they were first proposed.

In September, Halstead Town Team announced it was considering providing the service in the high street, which allows people to connect to the internet using a device such as a phone for free.

It is thought the scheme could help to attract potential shoppers to the high street.

However, there has been no progress and the it remains a “vague idea” for the town.

Town Team member James Killberry said: “It is something we have talked about.

“It is just a possibility and we are still looking into it.

“We have to decide who will benefit from it and whether it is worth it.”
