IT'S the weekend again and we've put together a few things to keep you busy.

1. SOUTHEND'S Carnival procession will take place this Saturday and we've put together a guide to make sure you don't miss a thing.

The Southend SummerCare Carnival Procession will be held this Saturday, August 22 all along the seafront.

The best viewing point will be City Beach (Marine Parade).

Attracting around 20,000 people to Southend seafront with over 60 floats and acts, the Southend SummerCare Carnival Procession is one of the largest in the UK. The carnival procession includes colourful floats, exciting acts, dancers, bands, big costumes and much more. Expect flag waving, all kinds of music, bright lights and a great atmosphere within the crowd from 7.45pm.

2. A FAMILY fun dog show will be held on Saturday from 1.30pm at Bullfinches in Ingatestone.

The show, in Writtle Road, will include Championship Sections and Best In Show. There will be refreshments available.

3. A FARMERS market will be held this Saturday in Leigh.

Food products from farmers and producers within the local area will be available at the community centre in Elm Road from 9am until midday. Regular stallholders include vegetables, meat and eggs, cheese, cakes, plants, chutneys and sauces.

4. V Festival takes place on Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23. The line-up includes Calvin Harris, Kasabian, Paloma Faith and Olly Murs.

5. The London-to-Southend Off-road bike ride will be finishing at Hadleigh Park this Sunday.

6. PCSOs will be on hand at Ramsden Bellhouse Village Hall, in Church Road, Ramsden Bellhouse, on Saturday to answer questions, discuss local issues and offer crime prevention advice.

7. Join Essex Wildlife Trust's Living Seas Coordinator to find out more about marine conservation and see what you can find on the beach.

Join EWT's Living Seas Coordinator and Naze Education Ranger Ben Eagle to explore the Naze beach, Walton on the Naze, and discover more about marine conservation and the species that live on the Naze beach.

Meet by the Naze cafe (by the car park) at 10.30am and we will walk down to the beach from there. Please note there are steep steps down to the beach.

8. THERE will be an open day at Rayleigh Weir fire station on Saturday, from 10am to 4pm, when visitors can look around and speak to crews.

9. LOOK at vehicles from a bygone era at the Classic and Vintage Car Show this Sunday from 10am to 5pm at Hedingham Castle.

There are some fabulous and unusual cars booked in, and we are delighted to announce that Bonhams Auctioneers will have a stand at this event where they will be offering free valuations on items of automobilia including motoring art, motoring literature, mascots, signs and F1 memorabilia.

10. Take a look at our nearest star through specialist solar telescopes in the field behind Great Notley Country Park’s Discovery Centre, a short walk from the car park.

This event, between 12pm and 4pm on Saturday,s is free. There is a small cost to use the car park.
