The new Halstead Town Council has had its first full council meeting on Monday.

There were the new faces of Martin Day (Halstead Resident’s Association), Christopher Fox (HRA), Eileen Penn (HRA), Michael Radley (HRA), Sandra Dingle (HRA) and Dave Gronland (HRA).

They were joined by oldhands Shirley Diver (HRA), Julia Allen (Con), Jacqueline Pell (HRA), Andrew Munday (HRA), David Hume (HRA) and Jennifer Sutton (CON).

There has usually been a HRA majority for the town council.

David Hume was elected as the mayor at the Annual Town Council meeting last Thursda.

This is the eighth year he has held the position.

He said: “As it is every time, it is a privilege to have this position.

“It is very exciting and I look forward to working with the new council and hear their new ideas.

“I am sure we will work well together to do the best for Halstead.”

Mick Radley, of St Andrews North Ward, added: “You never really know when you put yourself forwards what the result will be.

“I am very much looking forward to serving my term.”
