Villagers will attempt to lay a wreath at a war memorial in Turkey during a charity jailbreak from HMP Chelmsford later this year.
Members of the Colne Engaine War Memorial Committee will take part in the event dressed in full World War One military uniform in honour of Lance Corporal Stanley Butcher, who was from the village.
Lance Corporal Butcher's name is inscribed on the Helles War Memorial on the Gallipoli Peninsula, where he was killed in 1915.
On April 25, the team of four will have 15 hours to reach the memorial without spending any money or breaking any laws.
Funds raised will be split between the Essex Boys and Girls Clubs and a village war memorial.
Villagers not taking part in the jailbreak will do a sponsored booze free pub crawl in full military costume.
