Plans for almost 300 houses on the outskirts of Halstead have been criticised by councillors.
Gladman Developments submitted proposals in December for 292 houses, a convenience store, a children’s play area and a public open space to be built on the land next to Oak Road, in Halstead.
So far, 25 objections have been lodged from residents, and councillors are also opposing the plans.
Councillor Barbara Carr said: “I think it’s too big a project for our little town.
“The schools are bursting at the seams, and the surgery is overwhelmed."
