An old factory site has been tidied up to make it more pleasing for local residents.

The site, in Kings Road, Halstead, was used by Hunwick Engineering until recently when the company moved to new premises in on the old Gosfield Airfield, Gosfield.

At the time, Hunwick Engineering claimed that the factory buildings on the site were outdated and the factory was not in the best position being in a residential area close to a fire station and a school.

However, activity has been seen on the site, sparking interest into the future of the 0.8 hectare site.

Works director George Dix said: “We have not sold the land, we are just tidying the area up.

“We had a lot of scrap there which didn’t look very nice for residents so we sent a team in to give it a tidy and make it look more pleasant for them.”

He added that the firm currently had no plans for the land.
