A popular police officer is set to blow the whistle on his 43 year career in uniform.
PCSO Brian ‘Eddy’ Edwards, 63, will finally hang up his truncheon on Wednesday after eight years on the Halstead beat.
He said: “I couldn’t have wished for a better place to finish up than Halstead. I shall definitely call back on the people who I’ve got to know well, I’ve made some good friends here.
“The people I shall miss most are the school kids, I will miss it when they walk up to you on the High Street or at the school and the young kids say ‘It’s PC Eddy!’”
Mr Edwards, who is married to wife Sandie and has three grown-up children, said he plans to run a marathon and take part in an expedition to Africa for raise money for Help For Heroes.
