A baby and toddler group under threat has been saved thanks to a Gazette appeal for volunteers.

Mums who run the National Childbirth Trust’s Bumps, Babies and Toddlers group at Halstead Baptist Church, in Hedingham Road, Halstead, warned that the group could close this month after a sudden lack of volunteers.

However, since the Gazette asked if residents could spare some time to help out, the group have been inundated with volunteers and will no longer close.

Mum-of-one Suzie Munson, 36, of Hawthorn Close, Halstead, has been helping run the group since she fell pregnant with her son Ben three-and-a-half years ago.

She said it has provided support and some adult company at a time when she needed it most.

Mrs Munson said: “We are absolutely thrilled, we have been inundated with people coming forward to help out."
