Parish councillors have considered funding a police community support officer to increase police presence.

Villagers in Sible Hedingham are being asked to keep a record of anti-social behaviour incidents to persuade police to spend more time in their village.

Parish council chairman Gillian Massey said: “We are trying to stress to residents that if and when anti-social behaviour occurs it is important to report it to the police. Unless we report things the police can’t justify having a presence here.

“It is vitally important that if something happens then something gets logged.

“I think the view of most of the council is that we should get our own police for which we all pay our taxes, but we have to have the evidence."
