Families attended an open day at Halstead fire station and learned about fire safety from local crews.
Children enjoyed face painting, a bouncy castle and other fun activities at the station on Parsonage Street, while firefighters staged firefighting and rescue demonstrations.
There was also a barbecue, tea, coffee and other stalls, including an Essex Air Ambulance stall.
Crew manager Steve Byrne said: “We had over 400 people through the door which for the population of Halstead is really good.
“It was a fun day but also an educational one.”
