Halstead has continued its extraordinary winning streak in horticultural competitions by scooping the best town prize at the Anglia in Bloom awards.

Although the town narrowly lost out on the overall winner award organisers said the latest achievement backs up their plan to rebrand Halstead as a floral town.

Halstead was voted the best town with under 12,000 residents for the fifth year running, winning a gold award and being runner-up in the overall competition.

Courtaulds Home of Rest in Halstead was shortlisted in the best community project.

Halstead was also shortlisted in the environmental quality award category.
