A headteacher has announced his decision to retire after 38 years in teaching.

Peter Anderson, of Pebmarsh, is leaving St Peter’s Primary School in Coggeshall in July after 21 years in the role.

He will be replaced by Alison Cole, who is currently acting headteacher at East Bergholt Primary School.

Mr Anderson, 58, first became a headteacher at the age of just 29 - a feat he ranks among his highest in teaching.
