A disabled pensioner has thanked teenagers who came to her aid after her first shopping trip in nine years.

Mary Potter, 89, was touched by the kindness of five boys who offered to carry her bags home and put her shopping in her kitchen cupboards.

Mrs Potter, who uses a walking frame and is partially sighted, had gone into Halstead High Street on Saturday afternoon.

Her late daughter, Marion Lunn, with whom she lived in Colne Valley Close, Halstead, used to do all their shopping but she sadly died last month aged 59 after a battle with cancer.
