Halstead: Runner loses five stone training for marathon Halstead: Runner loses five stone training for marathon

A man has shed a quarter of his body weight in just five months through training for the London Marathon.

Chris Ward, 25, from Friars Close in Sible Hedingham has dropped from 20st 8lbs to around 15st 8lbs and has quit smoking 20-a-day since he started preparing for the 26 mile challenge last September.

Mr Ward, who is running for Children With Cancer UK, decided to get fit after seeing the marathon on television last year.

He said: “The London Marathon is something I have always watched on television and last year I thought ‘there is no time like the present’.”

Mr Ward said he has lost almost five stone by running three times a week, quitting smoking and changing his diet.
