Halstead: Detailed plans for former Premdor site Halstead: Detailed plans for former Premdor site

Detailed plans to build almost 200 homes in Sible Hedingham have been unveiled.

Bloor Homes has submitted plans, which are open to public consultation until February 14, for the former Premdor Factory site in Station Road.

Of the 194 homes 58 will be affordable and the majority will be three or four bedroom houses.

The planning statement said: “The site is considered to be ideally located within the existing settlement, with direct access onto Swan Street, the main road artery through the village.

“It is therefore readily accessible to village schools, shops and other services.

“The mix of facilities provides opportunities for social interaction and also assists in the creation of successful mixed communities.”

The application lists a number of S106 proposals including land for a new doctors with a £70,000 contribution and the refurbishment of the bank building.

Gill Massey, Sible Hedingham Parish Council chairman, said: “There is an awful lot of it to work through but so far from what I have seen there hasn’t been anything to give me any surprises, it is pretty much as discussed.”

She added that the parish councillors, GPs and residents are working hard to bring a new doctors’ surgery to the village as quickly as possible.
