The father of a mechanic jailed for ten months after leading police on a high-speed car chase has hit out at his sentence.

Ben Turner, 23, of Acorn Avenue, Halstead, was found by police hiding in a bush after reaching speeds of 105mph during a 20-minute chase.

He had panicked because he thought he was over the drink-drive limit, but a breathalyser test showed he was well below the limit.

The HG might at least have given us a clue as to the reason why the father has 'hit out' at the sentence.

Was it - as no doubt the majority of readers hope - because he perceived it it to be far too lenient? Or was it because he thought it was too tough?

Might have had some more spirted resonse if that simple little fact had been included.
