An underfire surgery is considering changing its appointment system for the second time in 12 months because it is struggling to meet demand.
The Elizabeth Courtauld Surgery, Halstead is one of the lowest funded practices in mid Essex and receptionists are struggling to find appointments for the 230 people who contact them everyday.
The surgery introduced a new triage system earlier this year following a number of complaints from patients.
However bosses have admitted it is too expensive and does not suit the needs of working people.
The practice is now considering a new system which would encourage patients with less serious ailments to see a pharmacist or nurse instead of their GP.
