Experts with ideas on how to save £50 over the festive period will be giving tips at the district’s libraries.
As part of the love food hate waste campaign recycling drop in session will be held with ideas on how to use left overs, recipe cards, the Christmas waste collection dates and extra recycling sacks.
Councillor Wendy Schmitt, cabinet member for place said: “People throw away 30 per cent more waste over the festive period than at any other time and these library drop-in sessions are planned to provide useful information to residents on using it, rather than throwing away food and re-using leftovers. “Wasting food costs the average family £480 a year and this increases to £680 a year for families with children.”
