Danish trip to give Scouts a new view of conservation

SCOUTS are jetting off to Denmark to take part in a ten-day international event.

Members of Halstead and Colne Valley Scout District are gearing up for the camping trip at the start of the school summer holidays.

The group of 38 young people and adults will take part in a variety of adventurous activities on land and open water.

They will also learn about environment protection through conservation and recycling.

Scout leader Katie Carter said: “It’s going to be a fantastic event. We’re hoping to embrace our international friends and build on existing friendships.”

She added: “I’m looking forward to giving something back to the Scouts,a as this is my first time away as a young leader rather than a participant.”

Most of the 20,000 participants will be from Denmark, but there will be 800 UK Scouts and others from 68 countries.

Following the Danish camp, the Essex Scouts will be travelling to a Scout group near Copenhagen to further enhance their international friendships.
