Halstead set to share its heritage with residents

ROMAN artifacts and pieces of Halstead’s textile heritage are on show in the town’s new museum.

The Halstead Heritage Museum will open to the public on April 29, with plans for school history workshops to be held there in the coming months.

The museum, at the town council offices, Causeway, is run by the Halstead and District Local History Society. Member Jane Winch, who works in Halstead library, said: “We want to tell the story of Halstead and how it has evolved. All these things weren’t being used, and no one had access to them until now.

“A lot of kids don’t know about the textile history of the town and it’s good for children to see these things – plus, they’re displayed in a historic building.

“I think it will bring history to life for them.”
