Celebrating his 50th year in showbusiness, Raymond Froggatt is heading out on tour with his new album Movin On.
Born in Birmingham in 1941, Raymond’s career began in the early 1960s as he performed rock and roll with his band, initially known as The Buccaneers.
The band’s bassist was Louis Clark, who went on to success with the Electric Light Orchestra before conducting the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra in the Hooked on Classics series.
The Bucaneers were signed by Polydor in 1964, but mainstream success eluded the band, although the Dave Clark Five had a hit in 1968 with Froggatt’s song Red Balloon.
Another of Raymond’s songs, Big Ship, was a chart success for Cliff Richard the following year.
His self-penned songs portray a range of emotions, making audiences laugh and cry in equal measure.
As he continues to sell out shows across the country, the singer-songwriter appears at the Empire Theatre, in Butler Road, Halstead, on Sunday.
Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets are £14 each. Call 07778 025490 or visit empire-theatre.co.uk
