Parish councillors who claim they were intimidated at a meeting regarding a major development in their village have asked the Government for help.

Sible Hedingham parish councillors felt they were discouraged from representing their residents at a Braintree Council local development framework (LDF) meeting discussing proposals to build 236 homes on the former Premdor factory.

Since the meeting on July 25 members of the parish council planning committee expressed concern about comments made by Braintree Council leader Graham Butland and Lady Patricia Newton.

At the following full parish council meeting they described the attitude of the two district councillors as “disgraceful” and last week sent a letter to the Department for Communities and Local Government.
