Water quality has now returned to normal in the River Colne following one of the county’s worst cases of river pollution in 15 years.
Thousands of fish and countless insects and invertebrates were killed when between 5,000 and 6,000 litres of pesticide spilled into Toppesfield Brook on June 13.
A crop sprayer had toppled over and the chemicals affected at least 12km of the river between Great Yeldham and Earls Colne.
An Environment Agency spokesman said there has been no contamination in the sediment. "
