Tesco’s latest plans for a new Halstead store have failed to quell concerns about gridlock in the town centre.
The retailer expects a maximum of six or seven delivery lorries a day, all arriving from the High Street via The Centre only.
No HGVs will use Parsonage Street, where residents had previously been worried about how lorries would fit down the narrow road.
Deliveries will be restricted to avoid peak hours and shoppers will use either The Centre or St Andrew’s Road.
However, no detail has so far been given about how traffic turning off the High Street will be managed.
