Mystery surrounds the resignation of the headteacher of Halstead’s only secondary school.
Mike Murray left Ramsey College on Friday after nearly seven years in the post.
Teachers from a Braintree school and sixth form have been drafted in to help address issues raised in the school’s latest Ofsted report, following an inspection last month.
Parents have expressed frustration it has taken almost a week to be told Mr Murray had resigned.
An Essex County Council spokesman said: “Following the resignation of the headteacher of Ramsey College, Essex County Council is supporting the college in its improvement plan by introducing into the college a team from neighbouring school, Notley High School and Braintree Sixth Form."
