Since coming into the public eye with a dazzling performance on Stars In Their Eyes over fifteen years ago, Steve Cherelle has established himself as a firm favourite on the country and folk scene.
His career was kickstarted on the ITV talent show in 1996, appearing as John Denver and singing the seventies classic Annie’s Song.
Two years later, Essex born and bred Steve joined the touring cast of the musical Forever In Blue Jeans, named after the song by Neil Diamond.
As well as his renowned Denver impersonation, Steve is a much-loved singer-songwriter in his own right, and is a past winner at the UK Country Radio Awards for his own compositions.
With a speaking voice just as well known as his singing voice, he is well-known to radio listeners as the presenter of Steve Cherelle’s Big Country Show every Sunday on BBC Essex.
Steve will be joined be joined at his performance at the Empire Theatre by Kalibre.
Kalibre have been together for just over twenty years and have made 14 albums together.
They are as dedicated today about their music as they have always been and continue to work hard to inject fresh material into their shows.
Such is their work ethic that they claim that they managed to learn 18 songs in only three weeks last summer.
The duo consist of Bobby Reed on vocals and rhythm guitar, alongside Bob Dixon playing steel guitar and dobro.
Steve Cherelle and Kalibre play at the Empire Theatre in Halstead this Sunday, with doors opening at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
