Gifted youngsters could be denied the chance to attend the county’s highest achieving schools because of new proposals to change admission policy.
Chelmsford County High School for Girls (CCHS) and King Edward VI Grammar School (KEGS), also in Chelmsford, want to reduce journey times for their students.
They have proposed limiting the amount of students living outside a 12.5 mile radius of the town to a maximum of 20% of each year’s intake.
High Garrett lays just outside the area, with Halstead, Gosfield and the surrounding villages all deemed too far away according to the proposals.
