Villagers were treated to an unusual sight as nuns, Simpsons and the Spartans were seen running around.
Seventeen pairs took part in a three-legged race between the cricket club, Fox Inn, Red Lion and Three Tuns in Finchingfield on June 18.
Finchingfield Cricket Club organised the annual race, which is sponsored by Spains Hall Estate and involves crossing the village pond twice.
Secretary Jeremy Toynbee said: “They do it for the fun, beer or to raise money for their chosen charity or good cause.”
