Matt Cardle: I can't believe I'm the Christmas No 1

First published in News

X FACTOR’S Matt Cardle has stormed into the charts with a Christmas number one...and says he can't believe it.

Matt’s single When We Collide sold 439,000 copies in the six days after his victory on the ITV talent show last Sunday, the Official Charts Company said.

The cover of the Biffy Clyro track left the anti-X Factor contenders trailing in his wake.

The sales gave Matt, 27, a lead of more than 300,000 over Rihanna ft Drake’s What’s My Name, which finished in second place.

Cardle’s planned celebrations involved “one or two beers”.

The former painter and decorator, from Little Maplestead, said: “I can’t believe it. As if winning wasn’t enough. I honestly didn’t think I’d even make it on to the live shows, let alone win and now be the Christmas number one.

“I can’t even begin to describe how if feels. It’s nuts, crackers and crazy.

“To think that many people have supported me and bought the record is absolutely mind-blowing.”

I still think it is lazy on behalf of all involved to release a cover song, let alone a song which isn't even a year old yet. Congrats to him though none the less.

He must be the only one that didn't think he would be No.1. You win XFactor, you become the Christmas No.1. Simple. And it will continue like that as long as the girlies and women of this country continue to be brainwashed with Cowell syndrome.

Has it?

Many made redundant. Snow chaos. Businesses folding left right and centre.

You must be living in a different Essex lemon demon.

Good year for Simon Cowell and his puppets yes, Essex, no.

X-Factor fame is often short lived and I doubt Matt Cardle will be any different. One to two years maximum before he is relaced by the next crop of lame talent that the show feeds us. Well done though, just hope you can make some money before your spotlight fades.

I wouldn't say people hate him, not on a personal level at least.

More that people are getting fed up with the rubbish that is pumped out by Syco records via X-Factor, Pop Idol, American Idol etc. and lapped up by the braindead sheep in this country.

That, and other people with more musical talent (who can't do karaoke?) are slaving away day after day, week after week, doing gigs writing songs, playing instruments etc. and don't get half the recognition.

I'm sure Matt Cardle as a bloke on the street is a perfectly reasonable guy, just a shame he had to go seek fame and a few quick bucks by prostituting himself to the likes of Cowell.

Boris says...

I have never heard Mr Cardle singing because I can't stand Cowell and his show, but well done to the lad, and if he really has got an exceptional talent he will carry on performing successfully for 50 years, like Georgie Fame.
If not, then never mind, it will have been good while it lasted.

I'm sure we would all bend over and take it from Mr cowell for a million rather than do our day job.
For the first time ever on that show I heard someone decent (rebecca). But would I buy it?. No, I like music too much.
