The number of young people out of work and education is slowly falling.
Since 2007, Braintree district has had more youngsters not in education, employment or training (NEET) than Chelmsford, Brentwood or Maldon.
In April last year, it had the second highest rate in Essex, with 11.1 per cent of 16 to 18-year-olds out of work and education, compared to the Essex average of just under seven per cent.
But recent figures show the number of NEETs dropped 0.3 per cent between March and April this year, taking the number of young people in this situation to 259 at the end of April.
