Couple attacked in their home

Thugs attacked and threatened a couple in their home before stealing thousands of pounds.

At least four men in balaclavas attacked the man, causing injuries to his face, and threatened his wife after bursting into their home in Chapel Road, Ridgewell, at about 9.40pm yesterday.

They demanded cash and searched the premises before making off with a four figure sum.

The man was taken to Colchester General Hospital for treatment and then discharged.

The couple were aged in their 60s.

Police dog handlers were among the officers who attended the scene of the burglary and believe the thugs may have had a vehicle in nearby Meeting Lane. Detectives are asking anyone in the Ridgewell area who saw any suspicious activity between 9pm and 10pm on Tuesday, or who have any other information, to contact them at Braintree on 0300 333 4444 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Sad, no where is safe. People are attacked at home and on the streets.

This would be less likely to happen if people were allowed to defend themselves without having to worry about prosecution.

What happened to "An Englishmans home is his Castle." and the rights of the innocent?
