Police are waiting to speak to a man who has suffered a head injury.

The man in his mid 60s was found in Butler Road, Halstead, in the early hours of this morning.

The area has been cordoned off to preserve the scene, which includes what appears to be a blood-stained T-shirt.

Joy Hale, ambulance spokesman, said the ambulance service was called at about five past midnight to a man in his mid 60s.

She said: “It looked like he suffered an injury to the back of his head following a fall and he has been taken to Colchester Hospital.

“We didn’t treat anyone else, just this guy and he was unconscious and breathing."
