BURGLARS stole £5,000 worth of jewellery from a house which backs onto a village footpath.
They got into the Pebmarsh Road house in Colne Engaine between 10am and 3pm last Wednesday (February 3).
Investigating officer, Dc John Ixer, said: “There are reports of a white man dressed in grey, with a grey cap, approaching the property as if to deliver a leaflet. There are also reports of a light blue Rover-type vehicle being seen in the area. If you are the driver of that vehicle, or you were delivering leaflets in Pebmarsh Road on Wednesday February 4, I would ask you to contact me at Braintree CID so that police can eliminate you from our investigation.
“The property backs onto a footpath where people frequently walk their dogs, so I would also ask anyone who saw anything suspicious during the day on Wednesday February 3 to contact me. “ Detectives are appealing for anyone with information about this crime to contact CID at Braintree on 0300 3334444, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
