WHAT'S great about living in Braintree district?

Snap happy residents are being invited to send in photographs to inspire people to discover new parts of the district for Braintree Council's Discover Our Heart photography competition.

There are three great prizes to be won: A luxury night in the Essex Golf and Country Club in Earls Colne, including bed and breakfast, dinner for two at the White Hart in Great Yeldham, and a family ticket (two adults and four children) for the Colne Valley Railway in June.

Nigel Harley, Cabinet member for enterprise, culture and leisure, said: “We hope lots of people of all ages and from right across the district will enjoy taking part in this competition.

"Entries should sum up what makes the district special to them – maybe of a favourite place, a landscape feature or snaps of their family and friends having fun in the district.

"There are some great prizes on offer and the winning entries will be used to promote our beautiful district across Essex and beyond.”

Photographs will be judged in three subject categories: Scenes of Towns and Villages; Rural Scenes and Landscapes; and A Great Day Out - pastimes and activities.

Photos between one and three megabytes should be emailed to marketing@braintree.gov.uk or prints can be posted to Discover the Heart, Braintree Council, Causeway House, Braintree, Essex CM7 6HB Full competition details can be found online at www.braintree.gov.uk or leaflets can be picked up from Causeway House reception.

The competition closes on January 15 and winners will be notified by February 26.
