Hedinghams: Mini crime wave

Mindless vandalism, in which yobs attacked eight cars in two streets overnight has been condemned by police.

Car owners in Sible Hedingham’s Alderford Street and Castle Hedingham’s Sheepcot Road had paint on their cars scratched, windows smashed and bodywork dented in late night rampages.

Police said seven vehicles were damaged in Alderford Street, and another Sheepcot Road between 10pm and 10am last weekend.

The total damage to the vehicles is estimated at around £1500.

Halstead Inspector Neil Murray said: “This is mindless behaviour, which disrupts the lives of ordinary people, and which will not be tolerated.

I would appeal for anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour in Aldersford Street or Sheepcot Road overnight at the weekend, or who has any information to contact police in Yeldham.

We are determined to bring the offenders to justice.”

Anyone with information should call police in Yeldham on 0300 3334444, or call CRIMESTOPPERS anonymously on 0800 555111.
