Late night Christmas shopping will take place in Halstead on December 4.
At a chamber of trade meeting on Wednesday, traders discussed ideas for the event.
They hoped to get schools involved with children singing carols.
There will be a snow machine and traders will be contacting bands, including the Long Melford Silver Band, and dance groups to provide entertainment.
Jackie Pell, Halstead town councillor, suggested the chamber organised rides for children and chamber chairman Steve Kirby hoped to bring Sleek Balloons back again this year.
Rebecca Mason of Holmes and Hills, Trinity Street, suggested roasted chestnuts and members thought a hog roast would go down well.
Members also hoped a sound system could be set up to bring some Christmas cheer to the town centre.
Mrs Pell said she would ask the Halstead Day Centre if they would open and provide tea.
Mr Kirby, who owns Steve’s Hardware in The Centre, added: “We need to get more shops involved to improve it.”
Louise Tierney of Bridge Personnel, Bridge Street, said: “Perhaps we can establish commitment earlier on.”
He has written to Sainsbury’s to see what they can provide and the Halstead Town Centre Strategy Panel has already put £500 towards the event
