A jazz festival, held in the glorious gardens of a Georgian estate, went with a swing.
Midsummer Music at Spencers in Great Yeldham was a success for the third year running.
The event held yesterday attracted at least 600 visitors who basked in the sunshine, enjoyed the vibrant gardens and listened to live music by Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames, Swing out Sister, and a number of other artists.
Flora Courtauld, organiser, said: “The atmosphere is really mellow and relaxing, with the sun shining and music wafting through the air.
“The drum workshop has been fantastic with lots of kids getting into the rhythym.”
Relatives of the jazz musician Humphrey Lyttelton, who played at Spencers two years ago and died last year aged 86, enjoyed the music.
His granddaughter-in-law Kelly Lyttelton, 32, of Tiptree , said: “It’s brilliant.
“The kids have loved it. The weather’s gorgeous and the music is superb.”
Her son Jacob Lyttelton, seven, said: “I enjoyed having my face painted.”
It was the first time retired friends Ann Munden and Keith Kingsmill from Epping had visited Spencers.
Ann said: “The gardens are beautiful.”
