Villagers, who fought to keep their post office running, are celebrating the appointment of a permanent postmaster.
Toppesfield Stores houses a post office which has struggled to stay open since it lost its postmistress about nine months ago.
In the meantime, postmistress Catherine Clarke from Hundon and former Toppesfield postmaster Mike Bickers stepped in to run the post office three mornings a week.
On June 9, villagers will welcome new postmaster, Trevor Cooper from Halstead, who will run it five mornings a week.
Then on June 13, MP Sir Alan Haselhurst will visit the post office for its official re-launch.
Ann Read, volunteer and chairwoman of the Toppesfield Stores’ committee, said: “We have kept the pressure on the Post Office to appoint someone and it’s been a real cliff hangar.”
