A village has seen a double dose of diamond wedding anniversary celebrations.
Two couples in Castle Hedingham - Lorna and Bramley “Bram” Buckley-Saxon and Doris and Thomas Doe raised a glass to 60 years of marriage last week.
Mr and Mrs Buckley-Saxon met through the young conservatives in Coleshill, Birmingham.
They have lived in Nunnery Street and later came to reside above Magnolia Tea Rooms in St James’s Street.
Mrs Buckley-Saxon, 82, who runs a shop within the tea rooms, said: “I can’t believe where the 60 years have gone."
The Buckley-Saxons enjoyed a celebratory lunch with the Does at Hintlesham Hall, near Ipswich last Monday.
Mrs Doe was a land army girl working in Cavendish collecting in the flacks when she met Mr Doe, who was a farm foreman.
The Ipswich Town supporters, who have four great grandchildren, moved from Cavendish to Hatfield Peverel before settling in Castle Hedingham.
