Halstead will learn if it has been crowned the region's best horticultural town next week.

This year's Anglia in Bloom results will be announced next Wednesday during a ceremony held at the Apex Theatre in Bury St Edmunds.

Halstead in Bloom is aiming to make it a golden decade having claimed the top prize in the town category for the past nine years.

A number of beauty spots in the town could also be in line for individual awards, with the public gardens off Trinity Street nominated for the five to ten acre park award.

Judges were given a tour of the town back on Friday, July 13 and stopped off at a number of iconic locations, such as the Loom Gardens along Hedingham Road and Halstead Cemetery off East Mill.

Halstead In Bloom chairman Margaret Eskins says success in this year's competition would be a special moment for the town.

She said: "We have been so fortunate for so many years that you think it can’t go on, someone is going to beat us.

“If we were to win again this year it would be ten golds in a row and that would be amazing not just for the team, but for the whole town."
