Throughout all the discussions and debates regarding the effect of additional development in the area of High Garrett, the authorities have denied there is a traffic problem at this junction and on the A131 as there have not been enough serious accidents.

Eventually they did propose some minor alterations to the present junction.

Unfortunately on Sunday there was a serious accident at this site.

Perhaps the powers that be will at last listen to the public who use this junction and the surrounding road network.

This junction needs to be controlled by traffic signals with phases for pedestrians.

Alternatively the junction should be redesigned as a roundabout with pedestrian facilities.

The authorities need to review the situation in the light of this tragic accident and also notify the Government inspector of the change in the information on which her decision is being made.
