AN inspirational dad who pledged to have a body wax if he raised more than £5,000 for charity has stuck to his promise.

Marcus Evans, 35, who is battling splenic marginal zone lymphoma, took on a 24-hour walking challenge for Bloodwise last month.

As part of his efforts to raise awareness of the condition, the Witham man invited as many people as possible to join him wherever they were.

In the end, 51 people took part in places as far away as Leeds and Warwick with a total of £7,800 being raised - smashing the £5,000 target.

It meant he was going to have to face up to the wax and the deed was finally done at Witham based Montrose Beauty last week.

Mr Evans said: "It's starting to grow back and is somewhat itchy, but I’m glad it's all done now.

"I looked like a plucked chicken and got a rash after - it also took five and a half hours, which is a long time to have someone pulling hair out of you."

Mr Evans also had his beard shaved and is now set for a well-earned break from raising cash for charity.
