A large field fire which is described as covering the space of around eight football pitches is now under control.
Firefighters have been tackling the blaze off Henny Street, in Great Henny, since 11am when several acres of land were reported to be alight.
A water bowser was being used at the scene to make sure enough water was available as six crews worked to stop the flames spreading to neighbouring fields.
The latest update from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service at 3.15pm says the fire is now well under control and is almost completely out.
Two fire crews are now extinguishing remaining hotspots and dampening down the area but are expect to leave soon.
The cause of the fire has been recorded as undetermined.
