A developer which was refused planning permission to build 40 homes near a village has returned with fresh plans.

Marfleet Developments Ltd is seeking approval from Braintree Council to build eight new homes on the former oil depot site off Hedingham Road in Gosfield.

The company had been refused planning permission to build 40 houses on the same brownfield site in December last year due to fears of over-intensification.

The eight homes now being proposed would include a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom houses.

A planning and design statement submitted alongside the plans states advice and opinions from the relevant authorities and public have been carefully considered during the design process.

The statement adds: “The site layout has been developed to take into account the surrounding constraints and opportunities.

“The proposal provides housing in the village without bringing about transport issues for local residents.”

Braintree Council will have the final say on the plans.
