Public toilets in Halstead could be refurbished.
Halstead Town Council is set to discuss the need to improve the facilities in Kings Road during a meeting next week.
The toilets were last refurbished 17 years ago at the cost of £68,000 and the council is now seeking another revamp after admitting the facilities have become a “matter of concern”.
A report which will be put before councillors states that quotes have been sought for work to be done, however it is likely the town council would need to establish a long-term financial plan to pay for the refurbishment.
The report adds: “The generally poor impression made by the toilets is created by the poor flooring and shabby appearance of the walls. Altro safety flooring would be a great improvement and is easy to clean.
“On the walls tough but light-coloured tiling would improve the look. The outside should also be repainted.”
Councillors will decide whether to proceed with plans for the refurbishment during the meeting which takes place at 7.15pm on Monday.
