Gosfield will aim to be crowned best village at the first time of asking when Anglia in Bloom judges visit tomorrow morning.

Horticulturalists have been hard at work preparing the village throughout the last few months and are now quietly confident they can succeed in the annual Anglia in Bloom competition.

The judges will begin their tour at Gosfield Village Shop at 8.30am before being taken passed the village’s main display near the Maurice Rowson Hall.

Further stops on the judge’s route include Gosfield Lake, St Catherine’s Church, Gosfield Community Primary School and St Margaret’s Preparatory School. The tour of the village will conclude when the judges return to the village shop where they will cast an eye over the playing field off Church Road.

Gosfield in Bloom volunteers say they have been watering on a daily basis, while members of the community have helped out with litter picking and other tasks to ensure the village looks its best.

Parish councillor Mandy Adams, who helped set up Gosfield in Bloom earlier this year, said: “The group are obviously nervous as this is our first year entering but excited to show what we have achieved.

"I want to say a huge thanks to all of the volunteers, schools, businesses, parish council and villagers for helping to make our first year such a success.”

Filby in Norfolk was crowned best village in last year’s Anglia in Bloom.
