A SCHOOL teacher and his wife are embarking on a five-month sponsored cycle ride in India.

Felsted maths teacher Joe Andrews and his wife, Verity, will be cycling 4,000 miles across 15 countries for the Magic Bus children’s charity.

Both have taken sabbaticals from work and will start their journey through India, Western Europe, the Alps and along the Dalmatian Coast in mid August.

Mr Andrews said: “Being a teacher, it was important for me to partner with a charity with an educational focus and with Felsted having such a great link with the Magic Bus it was the obvious choice.

“I was lucky enough to visit India when I was at school and it had a huge impact on me, as it does with all the pupils who visit each October with Felsted.”

The pair are aiming to raise £2,000 for the charity, which focuses on education and gender equality in children and young people.

The challenge comes after Mr and Mrs Andrews spent six weeks cycling around Columbia and spent time in Scotland, but they both say this will be their biggest adventure.
