A nursery has been told it requires improvement for the second time after an inspection.

Cheeky Monkeys, based at Essex Golf and Country Club, in Earls Colne, was given the same rating in every area, a deterioration since its last inspection in April 2017.

Inspector Patricia Champion found the nursery was not meeting the requirements of the early years foundation stage.

The report, published on Friday, said: “Although some improvements have been made, the quality of teaching is not consistently strong.

“Children aged two and three years are not provided with sufficient resources and activities that motivate and inspire them to learn new things.

“The key-person system is not successfully tailored to meet every babies’ emotional needs.”

To meet the requirements of the early years curriculum, the nursery must ensure resources are provided to enable staff to plan purposeful activities.

It must also improve the key-person system for babies.

A spokesman for the nursery, which is owned by the Childcare Personnel Company, said: “The inspection was improved on the last one. It’s obviously very disappointing we still need to do some work.

“When they come back we are hoping to be rated good.”
