A FOOTBALL club was hit by vandals.

Halstead Town FC, in Rosemary Lane, was targeted overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday.

The culprits broke a table, forced open shutters, smashed several windows and ripped down wiring for a security light.

Secretary Steve Webber said: “They didn’t get inside, but they broke a table and smashed windows after forcing some shutters.

“They pulled the security light wires down so they have to be rewired.

“It is not too expensive, a couple of hundred pounds, the cost is negligible and we are already having CCTV installed.

“We also had a wall along the car park between the industrial estate damaged about nine months ago, the condition of it was pretty shoddy so we can’t say if it was vandalised or just wear and tear.”

Mr Webber has attempted to report the incident to Essex Police.
